Here are our favorite photos of the majestic Buck Moon"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>The full Buck Moon rose to delight and dazzle stargazers with a spectacular display of moonlight on July 29 and we&#8217;ve got the photos to prove it!<\/p>\n<p>July&#8217;s moon is also known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/july-full-moon-2026-when-where-and-how-to-see-the-buck-moon\"><u>full &#8220;Buck Moon&#8221;<\/u><\/a> \u2014 a traditional name used by Native American tribes to reflect the time of year when young deer grow out their antlers. Sadly, the name didn&#8217;t herald any dramatic transformation in the appearance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/55-earths-moon-formation-composition-and-orbit.html\"><u>the moon<\/u><\/a>, but it still made for a spectacular sight \u2014 and photo opportunities \u2014 as it climbed above the eastern horizon at sunset on July 29.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a selection of spectacular photos of the July Buck Moon 2026 captured alongside gorgeous natural landscapes, terrifying wildfires and stunning cityscapes from around the world.<\/p>\n<h2>Best photos of the July 2026 full Buck Moon<\/h2>\n<p>Our first photo of the full Buck Moon comes courtesy of Mesut Karaduman, who captured a gorgeously framed view of a ballerina performing in front of the yellow-orange lunar disk on a hillside close to the city of Tekirda\u011f in northwestern T\u00fcrkiye on July 29.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"van-image-figure  inline-layout\" data-bordeaux-image-check>\n<div stained a deep crimson by the smoke from wildfires, which continue to ravage vulnerable areas in the wake of a prolonged heatwave.<\/p>\n<p>Photographer Sergen Sezgin captured one such scene firsthand, as the moon rose over a smouldering hillside close to the Turkish city of Bal\u0131kesir, a few hundred miles south of Tekirda\u011f. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"van-image-figure dark profiles of lunar seas and bright pockmarks of craters scarring the lunar surface. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I stepped out onto my driveway in Charlotte, North Carolina, at 11:15 p.m. to capture tonight&#8217;s full Buck Moon,&#8221; McCarthy told Space.com in an email. &#8220;The moon has a definite warm tint likely caused by its low position in the sky, causing the light to pass through kicking off with a jaw-dropping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/total-solar-eclipse-2026-a-complete-guide\"><u>total solar eclipse on Aug. 12<\/u><\/a> that will be seen from Spain, Iceland and Greenland, which coincides with the peak of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/32868-perseid-meteor-shower-guide.html\"><u>Perseid meteor shower<\/u><\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s followed just two weeks later with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/lunar-eclipses\/this-is-the-best-lunar-eclipse-until-new-years-eve-2028-heres-how-to-spot-the-almost-blood-moon-on-aug-27\"><u>spectacular lunar
